On August 17-24, 2006 the Krasnoyarsk Centre for Community Partnerships (KCCP) tested a new youth program “Youth Culture” in Krasnoyarsk. During one week students from five city schools were studying the basics of graffiti and could try their skills in the street art.

The goal of the program was to involve young people into an active community life and to attract their attention to graffiti as a part of youth culture.

The students studied the history of graffiti and different forms of this street art. They also learnt how to make up a questionnaire and conducted a survey on the topic of “How do people treat graffiti?”. In the framework of the program the participants visited the local museum.

The practical part turned out to inpsire a great interest in the children. They decorated a fence around the territory of a local school with nice graffiti pictures.

Thus, this program provided the participants not only with theoretical knowledge but also gave them practical skills that could be useful in their school as well as community life.
