On December 20, 2006 in Samara the round table was held to discuss the experience and perspectives of introducing the school community foundations model at educational institutions in Samara oblast.

The round table was organized by the Samara Youth Union (Samarsky Soyuz Molodezhi) as a conclusion of the “School Foundations” project supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Samara Oblast.

Experts from the Ministry of Education and Science of Samara Oblast, representatives of the education boards of Samara City, administrators and parents from community schools of Samara City and Oblast, as well as representatives of school community foundations participated in the round-table discussion.

The following issues were discussed at the meeting:

• The experience of school community foundations in Russia.
• Existing Models of school community foundations.
• School community foundation as a form of public participation in education.
• School community foundation as an effective mechanism to fight corruption at educational institutions.

As a follow-up of the round-table discussion a collection of project materials will be published by the Samara Youth Union

The Samara Youth Union, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Samara Oblast, proposed that a training conference be held in April 2007 for administrators of educational institutions and specialists of education boards on the development of school community foundations.
