The article highlights the development of community schools in various regions of Central and Eastern Europe and Russia where the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has granted its support.
While residents of a Ukrainian village are being taught ways to change their lifestyles to improve their health, Russian schoolchildren hundreds of miles away keep busy in a volunteer enrichment program called “You, Me and Community.” At the same time, parents in the Czech Republic are learning to speak English and surf the Internet.
